Sal Mex: Discover Glenwood Springs' Hidden Gem for Authentic Salvadoran and Mexican Cuisine

A hidden gem that glad we tried. It's tucked away in a strip mall just off the main road through Glenwood. The decor is very vibrant with a lot of booths. The menu offers Salvadoran and Mexican cuisine with a whole page dedicated to seafood options. The service was spectacular throughout with attentive staff. Our waitress was Jenny and she was great. My wife had the cheese enchiladas and I tried the large combination with ground beef taco, relleno (soft) and chimichanga (Christmas style with red and green sauce) The plates they serve your food on are huge and both our meals came with rice and beans (so tasty) My combo came with a side of spicy sauce (homemade for certain) I also had a Michelada which is served in a large mug and your choice of beer. I opted for Tecate. Very good and extremely reasonable at $10 Would definitely recommend and come back.

We were pleasantly greeted at the door, very welcoming! I had the chimichanga it was very good! The rice was so tasty I wish I had more. The red and green chili sauce were loaded with flavor. I had a craving for good Mexican food and it hit the spot. Everything was so tasty I totally recommend.

Me and the family travel alot, and this place was amazing. We pretty much drove out to eat here, and was worth the drive. Service was great, and staff was over the top amazing. Doris C. was our cook, and food tasted so good. Highly recommended to all to swing by. Thank you to the staff.

We love coming here! They give a great serving of chips and salsa to start your meal, and the menu is extensive and it’s all great. Best pupusas in the valley!!!!!!

The margaritas were 6 stars…. Very generous with the tequila! Excellent Mexican food and I am very fussy. Having been raised on home made Mexican cooking, it is very difficult for me to find Mexican food that is authentic Sal Mex chef serves delicious meals, generous portions at a great price. Our servers were committed to our satisfaction and beyond.

Need a break from downtown Glenwood Springs and love Mexican food? The food here was amazing! Service was excellent. The female servers were very friendly and made good recommendations. They hustled and took good care of every table, even as it got more busy on a Saturday night. We had the medium combo plate and the enchilada plate. The chili Rene I was the best we’ve ever had. We had shredded chicken and shredded beef and both were delicious. Perfect size portions, a bit on the large side, so come hungry.
